We wouldn't be the people we are today without good food, drink and company. Majorcan food is fresh, varied and extremly tasty, along with a cold beer of glass of wine.
Take that along with a view of the bots coming in or sat by the beach (Mondrago in aprticular) life just does not get much better than this
Below are some of our favourite restaurants, if you find some that are not listed, please let us know and we will add them to the site, similarly, if you think they are not so good, let us know
There are so many restaurants in the area, it is almost impossible to give a review on them all, the following link to trip advisor is probably your best bet, we have visited an excellent restaurant one year only to find the following year it has changed hands and is rubbish!
Cala D'Or restauarants
Having said that, apply some logic, look at the menu outside the restaurant, does it loko clean and tidy, are people having a good time? Maitre D's are often out the front of the restaurants trying to get you in, have a look at the menu, see how busy it is, maybe you need to come back later if you really like the look of somewhere, but take your time, look around first. If you can't get into your first choice restaurant, book a table for tomorrow.
When you get into the restaurant, you will probably be quite warm, before you order your food, get some beers in. They normally have two sizes - Large and Small. A Llarge is a pint (ish) small is a half. Why not order some bread and Ali-Oli? It goes perfectly with your beer and helps in making your mind up with what to have for your main meal. Oh, you do need to like garlic. Simply, it is garlic mayonnaise, Matt reckons he makes the best, he adds to three heaped tables spoons of Hellmans, 3 gloves crushed garlic, pinch sea salt, good squeeze lime juice and some dried italian herbs, mix well and serve. It has a bit of a love hate relationshiop, you love it, just not when it repeats on you an hour or so later!
Not all 'restaurants' do food, some are just bars, where as some 'bars' serve food aswell, check the menu at the front for pricing. Everyone in the area speaks excellent English, so if there is something you owuld like, just ask.
